Marriage License

Jeff and I got our marriage license today... We didn't even have to wait in line! I was surprised at how long it took. Today is also Jeff's birthday so now we are onto birthday festivities!

24 days

Holy moly, I only have three weekends left in which to plan this wedding.  I still have a bunch of things to do...

On my list:

Make a photo montage video (which, in turn, requires the following)
    Actually scan in photos
Allow fiance to preview photos to ensure his nude booty does not appear is any
Sneak nude booty shots back into folder before video file is made
    Prepare appropriate apologetic gift

Hot-glue navy-blue ribbon to various decorative items

Ensure that all items needed for wedding are purchased, present, accounted for, and in plastic totes

Making list of things necessary for honeymoon festivities

Force fiance to buy new suit against his will

Ensure everyone attending wedding has appropriate place to stay

Think of things I forgot to do.....

Wedding Planning

Originally, my purpose for creating this blog was to give myself a place to keep track of my wedding planning adventures and then my adventures in married-personness thereafter.  So far, I am not great at it.  There was a whole nine months or so that I missed, so I've decided to quickly sum up.  I've planned all the fun stuff, and now I'm at the more detail-intensive, boring stuff and I don't like it.  So obviously, I've decided that I will be faithful and loving to my new husband, because I don't ever want to do this again!  (That, and I like him, you know, a lot.)

Here are the answers to the most popular questions I get when asked about the wedding.

1.  My colors are navy blue (fabric) and apple green (flowers).  That's a granny smith apple, by the way.  I am wearing green shoes, and as the bride, I am the only who gets to break the navy blue fabric rule.

2.  Yes, I have my dress.  Yes, I look amazing in it.

3.  My wedding and reception is at a golf club.  No, I don't play golf.  No, we are not teeing off as a married couple.  My wedding is not golf-themed or any other theme other than "wedding" with the use of a specific color scheme.

4.  Yes, I am using real flowers.  I don't care if they die right afterwards.  I'm only getting married the one day anyway.

5.  I have no intention of being a "Bridezilla".  Anyone who has that intention ahead of time and is ok with it isn't really someone I'd put up with.  I'm not sure why at least 5 people would ask me this question like it's something I would put on a checklist and plan ahead for.  I have no idea what my emotional state will be on the day of my wedding, but I guarantee you I have safeguards in place should I suddenly flip my lid over the difference between ecru and ivory or something even dumber.

6.  Yep, I intentionally planned my wedding for a minor holiday weekend just to mess with people... And also so I could always have a four day weekend on which to plan my anniversary.  Because this day is all about me... Seriously.

7.  I have not planned every single detail of this wedding to have sentimental value.  That's not who I am.  I am practical and am keeping in mind that all this stuff is just for one day and I have more important things to do that plan for every single moment of my wedding day to filled with teary meaningfulness.  It's mean to do that anyway, since at least half the crowd will be wearing mascara.

OK.  That's all I've got for now.

First Post

I'm typing this with a massive cast on my right hand, and it is surprisingly slow.  A lot has been happening recently.  Yesterday, for instance, I had surgery on my hand... hence the cast.  In the past month and a half, I've gotten engaged and started the wedding planning process as well. We've chosen a date, a ceremony and reception venue, and booked catering services and such.  We have started the one year countdown.  I'm pretty excited, but it seems a bit surreal.
